Work-Life Effectiveness


Am I effective at work? Am I effective at life? The latter question is fairly easy to answer. Do I meet expectations at work? Do I get my work done? How well do I achieve my goals at work? Am I struggling, or is it easy?

But life? Life isn’t so easily measured. No one reviews my life. Am I meeting expectations? Whose expectations? Do I get my work done? How well am I achieving my goals? Am I struggling?

When I look at it that way, there is definitely no balance. Compared to my life, my job is a breeze. I come to work, get my work done, and go home at the end of the day. There are stresses along the way, but it all works out in the end. I’m constantly learning, and I have a support system of colleagues and managers who help me keep the work (and obstacles) manageable. Why doesn’t my life look like this?
